Cheshire-based Hampson Auctions’ Spring Classics Sale held at former RAF airbase Hooton Park was a resounding success and included the sale of a rare Escort Cosworth Monte Carlo

It was the team’s first auction at this unique historic venue, and the line-up of vehicles on display under the Belfast-trussed roof of the restored WW1 Aircraft Hangar 16 was a sight to behold.

Sixty-four fantastic classic, prestige and modern-classic vehicles went under the hammer, with star lots including a rare 1994 Escort Cosworth Monte Carlo – believed to be one of only nine ‘Jewel Violet’ RHD models left in existence – fetching £54,917.

It was also a good day for Capris, with a 1987 2.8i and a 1987 Zetec-powered Laser selling for £20,250 and £5,850, respectively.

Hampson’s next auction sees a return to Oulton Park race circuit, where their Summer Classics Sale will be held during the prestigious HSCC Gold Cup event over the weekend of July 29-31.
