Just another manic Monday… Hey ease yourself into the week with a pair of classic Ford projects in the form of a Mk2 Transit and Anglia 105E courtesy of Simon Coulson

Seeing as this is not only a late 105E but a rare Standard version at that, we’re not going to do too much to this UK-bound beauty. Instead, we’ll make the most of what it already has (or hasn’t when it comes to chrome), with the bodywork left largely as-found. Underneath though, well that’s a different matter. Much lowering has occurred to get those 15 inch BRMs sat right up into the arches. BRMs? Yes, we’re bolting up a set of aircooled VW wheels using hub adaptors, and fitted with some super-skinny 195/50R15 tyres. While the exterior may be calm and collected, under that bonnet it’s anything but as you’ll now find a 1558cc Pre-Crossflow with an A6 cam, serious compression ratio and — keeping with the VeeDub theme — a single downdraught 44IDF carb mounted on a custom inlet. Inside, the standard black vinyl seats are more than suitable, while the headlining and sunvisors have been retrimmed in tweed…. because we can. Keep it simple, stupid, has never been more apt.

Imagine if the early 1990s Minitruck craze had taken over the custom van scene as well. Here then, is the awesome result. To create the look the first job is to smooth the body, with the gutters removed, door handles, numberplate recesses and valence seams. The kombi shell is then lowered onto a semi-spaceframe chassis with wishbone suspension, and in order to it that low, airbags. There’s another reason for that chassis though — we’ve mid-mounted a Cosworth V6 behind the front seats, separated by a custom bulkhead. With the dry build complete, a full respray in jet black is the meal ticket of the day, with a side order of multi-layered airbrushing on the lower rear flanks. A set of billet wheels from the US are them bolted up followed by blue leather seats with pink stitching. The 1990s never looked so good.
